To further highlight the important role of the former site of the Dongjiang Guerrilla Column Headquarters in the revolutionary history of the Dongjiang Guerrilla Column, and to diversify the exhibits at the headquarters' former site and increase the proportion of material objects, the Dapeng Fortress Museum set up a working group for the collection of cultural relics, with “objects related to the revolutionary history of the Dongjiang Guerrilla Column” as the main collection targets.

The working group has also collected a large amount of cultural relics information, and invited a Guangdong Province cultural relics identification expert group to many places (including Sanshui District of Foshan City, Shenzhen city and Dapeng New District) to carry out the collection of cultural relics.

As of the end of June, a total of 19 items of physical memorabilia were collected, including an American-style military radio, a hand-cranked air defense siren and Flying Tigers uniforms.

The First American Volunteer Group (AVG) of the Republic of China Air Force in 1941–1942, nicknamed the Flying Tigers, was formed by Claire Lee Chennault in 1941.

With the secret support of U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Chennault was sent to the United States during the beginning of World War II to recruit for an American-supported air force in China.

During the Anti-Japanese War, the air control on the Chinese battlefield was in the hands of Japan until the arrival of the Flying Tigers, who made a great contribution to securing material transportation lines and fighting the Japanese by air.
