On June 11, six red tourism routes in Shenzhen for learning the CPC history were officially unveiled in Futian District's Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning.

The six routes feature 30 major red tourism scenic spots in Shenzhen and each route has a unique theme, namely, "Reform and Opening Up in the New Era," "The Story of Spring," "Revolutionary Days of Dongjiang Guerrilla Column," "Original Aspirations," "Emancipating the Mind and Standing Up to the Tide," and "Red Footprint."

This route includes Shekou Time Square, the placard “Empty talk endangers the nation, practical work brings properity,” the Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Town (Shenzhen Splendid-China Folk Culture Villages, Window of the World), the sculpture “Willing Ox,” and the former site of the Shenzhen Museum (the sculpture of “Breakthrough”).

In Shekou Time Square, a giant billboard with the slogan “Time is money, efficiency is life” stands tall before the Shekou Industrial Zone, which was erected to remind the early builders in Shenzhen to seize the moment and strive for economic miracles.

Ever since then, Shenzhen has made itself a prominent test-bed of China’s reform and opening up.

The Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Town (OCT) is the colloquial name for a cluster of scenic spots in Nanshan District.

The area features a number of theme parks, including Splendid China, Chinese Folk Culture Villages, Window of the World, and Happy Valley Shenzhen. It is currently owned and operated by Overseas Chinese Town Enterprises and its subsidiaries.

The OCT Contemporary Art Terminal is in the community.

The sculpture “Willing Ox” stands in front of the building of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China.

Willing Ox, cited from Chinese writer Lu Xun’s poem, refers to those who are selfless and dedicated and symbolizes the pioneering spirit of Shenzhen in reform and opening up.
