On June 11, six red tourism routes in Shenzhen for learning the CPC history were officially unveiled in Futian District's Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning.

The six routes feature 30 major red tourism scenic spots in Shenzhen and each route has a unique theme, namely, "Reform and Opening Up in the New Era," "The Story of Spring," "Revolutionary Days of Dongjiang Guerrilla Column," "Original Aspirations," "Emancipating the Mind and Standing Up to the Tide," and "Red Footprint."

Route 3 "Revolutionary Days of Dongjiang Guerrilla Column"

This route includes attractions such as the Former Site of the Dongjiang Guerrilla Column Headquarters, Tuyang Martyrs Memorial Park and the Memorial Hall of Chinese Cultural Celebrity Rescue.

The Dongjiang Column of the Guangdong People’s Anti-Japanese Aggression Guerrilla Force was one of the main forces of the Communist Party of China participating in the war of resistance against Japanese agression in South China.

A series of important historical events, such as the Great Rescue of Cultural Celebrities by the Dongjiang Guerrilla Column, became an important part of the history of China’s liberation.

The Former Site of the Dongjiang Guerrilla Column Headquarters is located in Tuyang Community, Kuichong Subdistrict, Dapeng New District. In the winter of 1943, the Dongjiang Guerrilla Column Headquarters was set up here, which housed those who led the people of Huiyang, Dongguan and Bao’an in their heroic fight against Japanese aggression. The Tuyang Conference was held here in 1944.

As a historical site of Shenzhen people’s heroic fight against Japanese aggression, the Former Site of the Dongjiang Guerrilla Column Headquarters was selected as a base for patriotism education in Shenzhen and an education base for learning the “four histories”— histories of the CPC, New China, reform and opening up and socialist development.

In 1941, Hong Kong was occupied by Japanese invaders, stranding more than 800 mainlanders in Hong Kong. Well-known intellectuals were among them. At that time, the Dongjiang Guerrilla Column of the Guangdong People’s Anti-Japanese Aggression Guerrilla Force led by the Communist Party of China escorted those people back to the Chinese mainland.

To commemorate the almost 200-day rescue, the Memorial Hall of Chinese Cultural Celebrity Rescue was built in Shenzhen in 2005.

The memorial hall has an exhibition area of 826 square meters, installed with maps, projections, cinemas and information screens.
