On June 11, six red tourism routes in Shenzhen for learning the CPC history were officially unveiled in Futian District's Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning.

The six routes feature 30 major red tourism scenic spots in Shenzhen and each route has a unique theme, namely, "Reform and Opening Up in the New Era," "The Story of Spring," "Revolutionary Days of Dongjiang Guerrilla Column," "Original Aspirations," "Emancipating the Mind and Standing Up to the Tide," and "Red Footprint."

The route connects the Zhongying Street Historical Museum, Shenzhen Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery, Shenzhen Party History Museum, the Memorial Hall of the First Party Congress of Bao’an County, and Yangtai Mountain Forest Park (Juxian Pavilion Revolutionary History and Culture Corridor), showing the whole process of the sprouting, development and growth of the Chinese Communist Party in Shenzhen.

Located in Shatoujiao, Yantian District, the 200-meter-long Zhongying Street bears witness to a difficult chapter of more than 100 years in Chinese history.

Established on May 1, 1999, the Zhongying Street Historical Museum is a patriotic education base of Shenzhen and Guangdong Province.

The historical museum houses historical materials and has comprehensively recorded the formation, changes and development of the street.

On March 18, 1899, the border town Shatoujiao was divided into two parts — the Chinese section and the British section, according to the Convention for the Extension of Hong Kong Territory, a lease signed between the Qing Dynasty government and the United Kingdom.

After the signing, the residents of Shatoujiao were forced to live on two separate sides of the town, marked by the street’s boundary markers on the border between Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland.

In October 2019, these markers on Zhongying Street were listed in the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.

Bao’an County (the former name of Shenzhen) is one of the first areas in Guangdong to set up Communist Party of China (CPC) organizations. Since 1924, peasant movements took place in Songgang, Shajing and Gongming areas in Bao’an under the guidance of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee.

In July 1925, the CPC Bao’an branch was set up and the first congress of the CPC Bao’an County Committee, with 19 attendees, was held Feb. 23, 1928 at the Chen Ancestral Hall in Songgang. In April and May that year, three worker-and-peasant revolutions broke out. The congress showed the CPC’s bravery and struggles for people’s liberation. The revolutionary spark ignited a mighty flame of the red revolution spreading in Bao’an.

In 2001, the site was renovated into a memorial hall, with old iron weapons, documents and photos on display.

Yangtai Mountain spans across Bao’an and Longhua, covering an area of 28.52 square kilometers. The main peak is in the area of Shiyan, with an altitude of 587.1 meters, which is the highest peak in the west of Shenzhen. “Yangtai Diecui” was named one of the top eight scenic spots in Shenzhen.

The park is divided into three functional areas: the water source ecological protection area, scattered forest recreation area and concentrated forest recreation area. Plans are in place to build a peak reservoir ecological conservation area, Dayangtai Mountain climbing resort, Xiaoyangtai Mountain forest tourist area, Nanshan forest fruit sightseeing area, Daweidu Camping Area, Luozu Mountain Recreation and Entertainment District, and Lengshuikeng Science Education District.
