Liu Heizai (1919-1946), formerly known as Liu Jinjin, was a native of Dapeng. He came from a peasant family and during the Japanese invasion was actively involved in anti-Japanese aggression activities.
During his tenure as the captain of the handgun team of the Hong Kong-Kowloon Independent Brigade of the Guangdong People's Guerrilla Force Against Japanese Aggression, he kept a fast-action barge gun stuck in his waist and wore a black Tang suit, and over time, everyone called him Blackie Liu (Liu Heizai).
On May 1, 1946, Liu was surrounded by Kuomintang troops while mediating a civil dispute, and unfortunately while escaping was shot in the thigh. The injury led to an infection with tetanus and he died at the age of 27.
