Dapeng, Pingshan join hands to issue action plan on building GBA Life & Health Innovation Demonstration Zone

Dapeng New District will work together with Pingshan District to release an action plan on jointly building the Pingshan-Dapeng Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Health Innovation Demonstration Zone.The plan will be presented at the upcoming 2021 Shenzhen International Biotech & Health Industry Expo and the Shenzhen International Biopharmaceutical Industry Innovation and Development Summit, which is scheduled to be held from Nov. 24 to 26 at the Yanzi Lake Convention and Exhibition Center in Pingshan, according to a press conference held in Pingshan on Nov. 2.

The summit is guided by Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government and jointly organized by Pingshan District People’s Government, the Dapeng New District Management Committee and the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

Dapeng will display its achievements in bio-medicine, life and health, and food and planting industries at the summit. In addition, the New District will hold a meeting in Jinsha Bay for leaders in the field of medicine, in which scientists and entrepreneurs will be invited to discuss the future of biomedical innovation in Dapeng, and to seek cooperation for development.

Speaking at the press conference, Wu Bo, member of the Dapeng New District CPC Working Committee and deputy director of the Dapeng New District Management Committee, said that a number of research and industrial institutions have been set up in Dapeng, including the Shenzhen International Bio-Valley, the Dapeng Marine Bio-Industry Park and the China National GeneBank.

It is home to more than 100 enterprises and institutions in the fields of biomedicine, health and marine life, including five research teams in bioindustries led by members of the China Academy of Sciences, two teams led by Nobel Prize winners, and five bioengineering research centers above the provincial level.

According to the press conference, Shenzhen International Bio-Valley (Food Valley) has completed infrastructure construction and is designing industrial structures. The recent Dapeng investment conference attracted more than 100 well-known enterprises from home and abroad and signed over 20 key project cooperation agreements, with an intended investment of more than 40 billion yuan (US$624.8 million).
