Dapeng New District serves as a vital energy hub within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with a concentration of national and provincial nuclear and gas-fired power bases located on the peninsula. These facilities play a key role in providing stable gas and electricity supplies to Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area.

1. Leveraging a Strong Power Generation Base

The district is home to five power generation enterprises, including three nuclear power plants and two LNG power stations. Among them, the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station—the first large-scale commercial nuclear facility in China—has been operating safely for over 30 years, delivering a continuous supply of clean energy to the region.

2. Building the Dapeng LNG Corridor

Dapeng is Shenzhen’s largest hub for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry, hosting major players such as Guangdong Dapeng LNG Company, Pipe China Shenzhen Natural Gas Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Hua'an LPG Co., Ltd. The Dapeng LNG hub has surpassed 100 million tons in both total supply and throughput, ranking first nationwide. The district is actively expanding its LNG receiving stations, pipeline networks, and other infrastructure. Key projects underway include Phase II of Shenzhen’s natural gas storage and peak-shaving facility and the Phase II LNG emergency reserve station by the national pipeline group. Dapeng is also exploring integrated utilization of LNG cold energy to establish a comprehensive "Dapeng LNG Corridor."

3. Advancing New Frontiers in Energy

Dapeng is capitalizing on the potential of the existing BYD Industrial Park, leveraging the influence of leading companies such as BYD Semiconductor Co., Ltd., Shenzhen BYD Electronics Co., Ltd., and BYD Co., Ltd. to build a comprehensive automotive-grade semiconductor industry cluster. In parallel, the district is accelerating the rollout of ultra-fast charging stations and integrated demonstration sites to support new energy vehicle infrastructure—advancing its vision to become a “City of Super-Charging.”
