Dubbed as the country’s first standard of its kind, the norm offers comprehensive guidance for the planning, construction, management and assessment of ecological communities, which will stand as a reference standard for constructing other ecological communities in the city as well as China at large.

The standard outlines five major indicators for assessment, including planning and layout, ecological environment and energy resources and resource utilization.

The assessment system covers 20 secondary indicators and 64 specific requirements such as the protection of ancient and precious trees and the restoration of waters, wetlands and plantations.

Additionally, the assessment system touches on such indicators as the control of ozone concentration and indoor air pollution. It also sets targets to build "sponge communities" and "waste-free communities."

The standard is not a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, it takes the actual conditions of each community into account when developing the planning, construction and management of ecological communities.

As a result, it's of great practical significance for promoting ecological communities, and for guiding and supporting the development of ecological communities.

Dapeng New District will carry out ecological community evaluations within the New District, strive to promote and build a number of ecological communities in line with the standard, and provide "Dapeng Experience" and "Dapeng standards" for the construction of a beautiful China.
