Futian Railway Station

Located at the intersection of Yitian Road and Shennan Boulevard, Futian Railway Station is the first stop on the Chinese mainland section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link for trains coming from Hong Kong. The three-story transport hub also serves as a transfer station of Metro Lines 2, 3 and 11. It houses four platforms and eight tracks, and has 21 entrances and exits. The transfer hall is located on GF1, the concourse and the waiting area on GF2, and the platforms on GF3. The 147,000-square-meter complex has over 1,200 seats in its waiting area and can serve approximately 3,000 passengers at the same time. Every year, around 19.4 million travelers leave Shenzhen via Futian Railway Station. It is currently the second-largest underground railway station in Asia, second only to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station.

Shenzhen North Railway Station

Shenzhen North Railway Station is located at 28 Zhiyuan Road Central in Minzhi Subdistrict, Longhua District. Surrounded by Hongshan Road to the north, Bailong Road to the South, Fulong Road to the west and Minzhi Road to the east, the station is connected to the Metro transfer station of Lines 4, Line 5 and 6. It is just a few minutes’ drive away from several major roads including Liuxian Boulevard, Meiguan Expressway and Nanping Expressway.

Pingshan Railway Station

Pingshan Railway Station is a stop on the Shenzhen section of the Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway. Located at Danzi Road West in Pingshan District, the 9,992.78-square-meter station has four platforms and eight tracks. The steel-structure canopy of the station's main building extends around 18,132.2 square meters, and the canopy areas of the platforms total 27,535.6 square meters. The station was put into use Dec. 28, 2013, the same day when the Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway began operation.

Guangmingcheng Railway Station

Guangmingcheng Railway Station is located in Guangming District. It is one of the three stops on the Shenzhen section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link. The station houses four tracks and can serve a maximum of 156 pairs of trains every day.

Shenzhen West Railway Station

Shenzhen West Railway Station, also known as Nantou Station or Nantou West Station, is located on the southwest side of the intersection of Xuefu Road and Yueliangwan Boulevard in Nanshan District and neighbors the now defunct Nantou Checkpoint. It is a stop on the Pinghu-Nantou Railway, which stretches to Mawan Port in the south.

Shenzhen Railway Station

Located in Luohu District, Shenzhen Railway Station is the southern terminus of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway. The station was first built in 1950, and underwent renovation from June 1990 to October 1991. Shenzhen Railway Station now covers an area of 90,000 square meters and serves over 100 trains every day. It is connected to Luohu Station, the terminus station of Metro Line 1. It is within walking distance of Luohu Checkpoint, where you can cross the border to visit Hong Kong.

Shenzhen East Railway Station

Formerly known as Buji Railway Station, Shenzhen East Railway Station is located in Buji Subdistrict, Longgang District. To the east of Jihua Road and the west of Longgang Boulevard, Shenzhen East Railway Station was reopened Dec. 21, 2012, after undergoing renovation. The 127,000-square-meter hub has four tracks for trains commuting on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway, two plazas, bus stops, taxi stations and parking lots. It is connected to Metro Lines 3 and 5. The departure hall of the station is on GF1 and the arrival hall on GF2.

Pinghu Railway Station

Located at 119 Shangda Street in Longgang District, Pinghu Railway Station has two platforms and two rails for intercity trains, and three platforms and four rails for other trains. Passenger train services resumed Sept. 26, 2016 after reconstruction. Currently the station primarily serves the Guangzhou-Shenzhen intercity trains and long-distance freight services.

Shenzhen Airport Railway Station

Shenzhen Airport Railway Station, located on the west side of Linghang Road 4 of Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, is an underground railway station on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen intercity railway. The station is connected to Metro Line 11 via the airport's T3. Put into use on Dec. 15, 2019, Shenzhen Airport Railway Station mainly serves Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen intercity trains.

Shenzhen Airport North Railway Station

Put into operation Dec. 15, 2019, Shenzhen Airport North Railway Station is located to the northwest of Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (beneath the airport's T4, which is still under construction) and mainly serves Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen intercity trains. The two-platform station is also connected with Metro Line 11.

Fuhai West Railway Station

Located at the intersection of Songfu Boulevard and Jianxin Road in Fuhai Subdistrict, Bao'an District, Fuhai West Railway Station started operation Dec.15, 2019. It mainly serves Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen intercity trains. It is connected to Metro Line 12.

Shajing West Railway Station

Located on the south side of Songfu and Minzhu boulevards in Shajing Subdistrict, Bao'an District, Shajing West Railway Station started services Dec. 15, 2019. The two-platform station mainly serves Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen intercity trains.

Houmen Railway Station

Houmen Railway Station, which started operation Dec. 28, 2013, is located in Houmen Township in the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone. The station, on National Highway No. 324 in Hongyuan Community, mainly serves passengers on Hangzhou-Shenzhen (Xiamen-Shenzhen) intercity trains. It has two platforms and four rail lines.

How can foreigners buy a train ticket in China?

The official ticket selling web site of the Ministry of Railways is www.12306.cn.

Foreigners can either purchase a train ticket at the station ticket office or buy a ticket online through the 12306 official website or app. Through www.12306.cn, passengers can look up relevant train information.

Foreign passengers should carry the original or a photocopy of their valid identity document (such as passport, you have to photocopy the original passport instead of a photocopy of a photo of the original passport) and purchase the ticket directly at the ticket office inside the railway stations.

Foreign passengers can also purchase train tickets via the 12306 website after registering an account on the website with their passports. Later they can collect the ticket at a train station ticket office by presenting their passports. Please note that foreign passengers cannot collect their train tickets with their passports at the automatic ticket dispensers.
