SZ to have 150 public ultra-fast charging stations by year’s end
From:Shenzhen DailyUpdated:2023-10-22

Shenzhen is targeting the construction of more than 150 public ultra-fast charging stations by the end of 2023, with the goal of increasing the count to 300 stations by March 2024, according to the two-year development plan on the construction of ultra-fasting charging infrastructures for new energy vehicles recently released by The Development and Reform Commission of Shenzhen Municipality.

By the end of 2024, the city will establish a world-leading ultra-fast charging service network, which integrates the charging, storage and distribution of electricity into a unified power supply system, and build the brand image of Shenzhen as “The City of Superchargers.”

By 2025, the city plans to develop an industrial ecosystem that combines new energy vehicles, the new energy industry, smart road infrastructure, and cloud computing technology.

The plan prioritizes the construction of ultra-fast charging facilities in key locations such as public transportation hubs, highlights the establishment of a “1-kilometer charging circle” in downtown area to make charging readily accessible, and encourages fair competition among the manufacturers and service providers in relevant industrial sectors.

The commission has unveiled the country’s first visual brand identity for ultra-fast charging facilities. The identity uses a signature purple color inspired by the city’s official flower, the Bougainvillea. It also includes standardized typography and the brand logos of “Shenzhen Super Charging” and “Shenzhen Fast Charging.” The commission will also provide comprehensive guidelines for the usage of this visual identity on promotional materials, storefronts, road signs, parking spaces, and public charging stations.

As of August, Shenzhen has built 41 ultra-fasting charging stations and 227,000 chargers. The city’s first high-speed fully liquid-cooling ultra-fast charging station was put into service in September at a service zone on the Changzhen section of the Outer Ring Expressway in Guangming District. It has two ultra-fast chargers that deliver 600 kW of power, which can recharge an electric vehicle’s battery in just five minutes to provide an additional range of up to 200 kilometers.
