Every Chinese New Year, Cantonese people buy flowers and plants to bring back home happiness and auspiciousness. On Xiao Nian (or the Preliminary Eve) which falls on Jan. 14 this year, the highly anticipated Spring Festival flower fairs in Dapeng New District officially opened, where shoppers can buy not only flowers but also Chinese New Year decorations. The flower fairs will be open through Jan. 21.
To help residents easily access their nearest flower fair, Dapeng has set up 31 spots in different subdistricts, including existing flower shops and temporary flower fairs, at which people can find not only popular CNY flowers such as phalaenopsis, anthurium, cymbidium, peony and narcissus, but also decorations and bonsai orange trees.
