Shenzhen’s Daya Bay has been selected as one of China’s top 10 sailing destinations at a conference held by China’s General Administration of Sport in Dali, Yunnan Province during the weekend.

At the 2023 China Outdoor Sports Industry Conference, which opened Friday in Dali, a number of selected itineraries and destinations suitable for different types of sports were unveiled.

Daya Bay in Shenzhen’s Dapeng New District, located in the northern part of the South China Sea, connects with Honghai Bay to its east and Dapeng Bay to its west. It is situated across the sea from Hong Kong, and surrounded by low hills on its eastern, northern and western sides. Covering an area of about 650 square kilometers, the bay is wide, with most of the waters having a depth of more than 10 meters. There are roughly 50 islands of various sizes in the bay.

Along with Daya Bay, other selected sailing destinations include the Seatopia coast of Beidaihe in Qinhuangdao, Qinhuangdao International Tourism Port, the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center, Dongqian Lake in Ningbo, Dianshan Lake in Shanghai, Donghu Lake in Wuhan, and Jiuzhou Bay in Zhuhai.

In addition to the sailing destinations, boutique hiking routes, cycling routes, and road trip itineraries were also unveiled at the event, aiming to boost sports consumption.
