Instructors from Baguang Nature School led more than 40 teachers and students from Futian Primary School, Zhixin College, and the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering of the Southern University of Science and Technology on a visit to the Baguang Ancient Silver Leaf Tree Community in Dapeng New District on Dec. 7.

At the event, they learned about the ecology of mangroves and marine science and planted more than 40 silver leaf tree saplings.

On the same day, the Off-campus Internship Base of Baguang Nature School at the Southern University of Science and Technology was officially inaugurated, and a teaching practice cooperation agreement was signed between Baguang Nature School and Futian Primary School. This marks the beginning of a collaborative effort between the three parties to explore innovative paths in nature education and to actively develop a science education base and a demonstration area for the protection and conservation of silver leaf trees.

Baguang Nature School, initiated by the Key Area Construction and Development Center of Dapeng New District in 2020, is one of the seven national nature schools in Shenzhen certified by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.

Over the past three years, Baguang Nature School has recruited and trained 100 volunteer lecturers, organizing 164 nature education activities for the public, with nearly 10,000 in-person participants and 2.44 million online viewers.
