Dapeng receives 827,400 visits during holiday

Dapeng New District’s scenic spots welcomed a total of 827,400 visits during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday that ended Saturday, an increase of 125.27% year on year, data from Dapeng’s culture and tourism department said.

The tourism revenue soared to 534 million yuan (US$74.2 million), marking a growth of 149.07%.

Of the total visitors, over 154,600 stayed overnight in Dapeng, reflecting a surge of 232.47% from the previous year. Additionally, the district saw a significant increase in overseas tourists, with 29,800 visits, up by 254.76% year on year.

Dapeng’s attractiveness was evident through various attractions and events, including the popular Chinese brand B.Duck's inflatable toy ducks at Nan’ao Yueliang Bay Square, traditional Nan’ao straw dragon dance performances, and the artistic designs at Dapeng Fortress.

Particularly noteworthy were the cultural performances, such as the 100-meter long straw dragon parade on the second day of Chinese New Year, which attracted visitors with laughter, as well as the sounds of firecrackers and drumrolls. The world's largest dancing lion, standing at 4.2 meters tall and 4.3 meters wide, accompanied by 20 inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, showcased splendid performances at Dapeng Fortress on Feb. 14.
