Shenzhen plans to address the demand for short-term parking by adding almost 16,000 roadside parking spots, with 1,598 designated for Dapeng New District, sznews.com reported.
The city’s parking plan will allocate 15,904 spaces across various districts, including Futian, Nanshan, Luohu, Yantian, Bao’an, Longgang, Longhua, Guangming, Pingshan, and Dapeng.
Specifically, Dapeng New District will introduce 1,598 additional roadside parking spaces along 10 roads in Kuichong and Dapeng subdistricts. These new spaces will cater to residential, commercial, and industrial areas, as well as parks and schools, in an effort to ease parking limitations.
Meanwhile, a few roadside parking spaces will be converted from free to paid parking.
Official data from the Shenzhen Road Transportation Center shows that the city currently boasts 28,000 roadside parking spaces, with the highest concentration found in Futian (6,333), Bao’an (5,924), and Nanshan (5,327) districts.
