Shenzhen will work to expand the supply of government-subsidized housing as part of efforts to resolve housing difficulties and ensure housing security for the people. The city plans to add another 100,000 government-subsidized units this year, according to the city’s housing and construction bureau.
Since the beginning of the year, a large number of government-subsidized homes have been made available for new city dwellers and young people in need of affordable housing. The first batch of affordable housing for middle and low-income families for the year went on sale Jan. 9, providing 2,197 units. In late February, the first batch of 384 units of government-subsidized rental units for the year was also made available. In the near future, the city plans to sell a batch of over 5,000 units of affordable housing and talent housing, according to the bureau. In 2023, Shenzhen planned to build 189,000 units of government-subsidized housing, of which 103,000 units have been allocated.
