A helicopter was dispatched to the emergency site and successfully rescued a tourist who fell off a cliff in the Beizaijiao area of Dapeng New District on Sept. 22.

Due to the numerous reefs, steep cliffs, heavy winds, and high waves, accessing the scene by rescue boat was extremely challenging. Therefore, the Shenzhen Emergency Medical Center and Dapeng’s emergency management bureau quickly decided to utilize aviation medical rescue.

Forty minutes after the emergency occurred, Eastern Airlines and Shenzhen University General Hospital were prepared to undertake the aviation medical rescue operation.

Once the injured individual was transported to the hospital, the total time taken for the rescue was 78 minutes. The patient was reported to be in stable condition.

Executing aviation emergency rescue, particularly in cliff scenarios, is not straightforward. The helicopter rotors need to be positioned as close to the cliff wall as possible while maintaining the stability of the fuselage. Such operations put extreme demands on the pilot’s technical skills and the professionalism of the lifeguards.

This rescue marked the sixth case of helicopter cliff rescue in Shenzhen.

Aviation emergency rescue also plays a crucial role in the low-altitude economy. As one of the pilot cities for the low-altitude economy, Shenzhen is developing a comprehensive industry chain that integrates low-altitude manufacturing, flight operations, protective measures, and comprehensive services.
