The main structure of the Xichong Depot for Shenzhen Metro Line 8 Phase III has been fully completed, marking a critical step toward the line’s planned opening by the end of 2025. The milestone was achieved with the final concrete pour, transitioning the project into the electromechanical installation phase.

As the first metro line in Dapeng New District, Phase III of Line 8 spans from Xiaomeisha Station in the north to Xichong Station in the south, featuring one station, one tunnel section, and the Xichong Depot.

The Xichong Depot stands out as both the inaugural maintenance hub for Line 8 and an engineering marvel. Nestled in a narrow strip of land embraced by mountains on three sides and facing the sea, the 264,500-square-meter facility adopts an innovative staggered-floor design, integrating maintenance and operational zones. A dedicated test track on its northern edge further cements its role as the project’s most technically advanced control node.

The depot’s “mountain-sea harmony” concept highlights Shenzhen’s ambition to blend infrastructure development with natural landscapes, setting a benchmark for future urban rail projects.
