In celebration of World Earth Day on April 22, Shenzhen Dapeng Peninsula National Geopark teamed up with domestic universities and geological organizations to hold the Action! Volcano and Coast Natural Festival at the geopark in Dapeng New District.
During the event, two new bases were unveiled at the geopark: the Industry-University-Research Base of the Institute of Nature and Culture of China University of Geosciences and the General Education Extracurricular Practice Base of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.

Through expert lectures and geology classes for youth, the geopark aims to deepen collaborations in research and development, talent training, and science popularization.
Additionally, the Shenzhen geopark partnered with the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark to host a cultural product exhibition at both parks, showcasing their achievements in geoscience popularization.
The exhibitions highlight the scientific and aesthetic value of volcanic landforms in both cities, raising public awareness about the importance of preserving this precious natural heritage. Visitors will better understand the close geological relationship between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, fostering stronger regional ecological conservation efforts.

In early 2025, Shenzhen Dapeng Peninsula National Geopark joined the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), gaining recognition for its long-standing commitment to nature conservation.
An IUCN-themed exhibition at the geopark highlights its future plans. By integrating IUCN’s international resources and expertise, the geopark plans to enhance protection of geological features and promote ecological restoration and sustainable development, thereby contributing to the safeguarding of our planet.

The April 22 event also featured a workshop jointly organized by Shenzhen Yadi School and Insta360, combining earth science, art, and scientific innovation. Guided by mineralogy experts from the geopark, students explored the park’s rock and mineral collections and learned about extracting mineral pigments. They then created paintings inspired by the mountains, sea, and volcanic rock layers surrounding the geopark.
During the event, a special exhibition displayed over 20 paintings created by Ma Xiangqun and Liang Chengjue, two patrol guards of the Dapeng Peninsula. Using ink and brushes, they vividly captured the mountains and sea waves of the peninsula, expressing their deep passion for the ocean and mountains.
