The Shenzhen LNG, under PipeChina, hosted an open day event recently, inviting media, residents, and employees’ family members to witness the secure and efficient operation behind one of China’s key clean energy supply hubs.
The terminal has set multiple new records in LNG handling, with both its cumulative receiving volume and processing capacity exceeding 25 million tons. Since commencing operations in 2018 after docking its first vessel, the 26.7-hectare facility has remained a core player in China's LNG supply network. In 2024 alone, it handled 5.35 million tons of LNG, ranking fourth nationwide. It also welcomed 128 vessels throughout the year – the highest in southern China – with a single-month record of 18 berths, recognized as a "new Chinese industrial achievement."

As a strategic node of the national pipeline network in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Shenzhen LNG plays a critical role in the country’s seasonal "south-to-north" gas supply campaign. It is also the first LNG terminal in southern China equipped with both bonded and general trade storage functions, strengthening its role as an energy coordination hub. Throughout past winter supply missions, it has consistently delivered safe and reliable clean energy to the Greater Bay Area and northern regions through efficient scheduling and secure operations.
Intelligent operation marks another highlight of the terminal. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, AI, and digital twin systems, Shenzhen LNG is building a nationally leading smart terminal. It enables intelligent risk monitoring across operations and maintenance guidance, creating a visualizable, manageable, and controllable digital twin facility. The innovation recently earned a gold award in the 7th "Bloom Cup" 5G Application Contest, demonstrating how new quality productive forces are upgrading the energy sector.
