From:Shenzhen DailyUpdated:2026-02-05

Construction of the Shenzhen International Agricultural and Food Innovation Center reached a major milestone on Jan. 30, as the project completed its main structural framework.

Located in Dapeng New District, the project is a key initiative under a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement between the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Shenzhen Municipal Government. The center will have a total floor area of about 42,000 square meters and will be operated by the Shenzhen Institute of Agricultural Genomics under the academy.

The institute, which will serve as the project’s primary user, has been involved throughout the planning and construction process. Work is currently under way on interior structures, mechanical and electrical installations, curtain walls and interior finishing. The project is scheduled to be put into operation in 2027.

Officials said the center is expected to support research and talent development in agriculture and food science, with a focus on agricultural breeding, food quality and safety, and related technologies. Once operational, it will work in coordination with existing agricultural genomics research facilities to advance scientific research and technology commercialization in the sector.
