During the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, Dapeng New District received 1.04 million visitor trips and generated 750 million yuan (US$104 million) in tourism revenue, with both figures increasing by nearly 20% and reaching record highs, according to local authorities.

Inbound tourism also expanded, with 38,000 overseas visitors recorded, a 24% increase from a year earlier. Overnight stays reached 160,000, up 6%, bringing the overnight visitor rate to 15%.

Officials said early promotional campaigns launched in partnership with online travel platforms including Ctrip and Qunar helped stimulate holiday demand, particularly among travelers choosing alternative destinations for festival celebrations.

More than 30 cultural and tourism activities were held across the district, combining traditional folk customs, trendy cultural elements and family-oriented experiences. Heritage performances such as ceremonial gate openings and lion and Qilin dances were staged regularly in historic areas such as Dapeng Fortress and Jiaochangwei, attracting more than 82,000 participants. Visitors’ average stay in Dapeng Fortress rose to about 2.1 hours.

Related spending on Hanfu costume rentals and traditional handicrafts rose 42%, while cross-genre performances, including dragon dances and international cultural shows, drew over 35,000 spectators, boosting nearby homestay occupancy by 21% and restaurant spending by 35%. Nighttime consumption in Jiaochangwei climbed to 58% of total spending in the area.

Scenic hiking routes, coastal sunset viewpoints and boutique seaside resorts also became popular social media attractions, with related topics surpassing 38 million views across short-video platforms. Searches for “Dapeng” on major travel sites as well as on Baidu also rose sharply.
