The 12th Dapeng Cup Sailing Regatta will take place from May 22 to 24 at the Sevenstar Yacht Club in Dapeng.

This year’s event emphasizes youth development, attracting over 100 young sailors from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and across China, with the youngest competitor just 10 years old, including several national junior sailing champions. Participants will compete in the OP, Topper, and Omega classes.

A total of 25 teams have registered, blending past champions and established crews with new entrants. The regatta combines short-course races with long-distance “island-hopping” routes. Sailors will set out from Qixing Bay, navigating past landmarks such as Judiaosha “Glass Sea” and Luzui Cliffs, and finishing at Sanmen Island, known as the “Little Saipan of Guangdong.”

Organizers said the event offers a challenging platform for both amateur and professional sailors while showcasing Dapeng’s scenic coastal landscapes, merging competitive sport with eco-tourism.
