Recently, the newly opened Visitor Service Center of the Shenzhen Dapeng Peninsula Tourist Resort (Shuitousha–Moon Bay Area) hosted its first family-friendly nature workshop, drawing 10 families to participate in a hands-on craft experience.
Using natural seed pods as their primary materials, parents and children worked together to design and decorate miniature dolls, transforming simple organic elements into creative artworks.
Many families welcomed the activity as a refreshing alternative to outdoor recreation during the hot summer months. Participants said the workshop successfully combined creativity, environmental education and entertainment.
The workshop marks the launch of a series of regular public programs at the new visitor center, which has expanded its role from a traditional tourism information hub to an immersive cultural and educational venue. The programs will provide affordable nature-based learning activities for both residents and tourists.
Organizers said future programs will feature local coastal themes, including shell art, leaf printing and driftwood crafts, with classes scheduled regularly on weekends and public holidays. Selected works from the seed-pod workshop will be displayed at the visitor center, further strengthening connections between visitors and the region’s natural environment.
