The Dapeng Peninsula Tourist Resort recorded strong tourism performance during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, driven by a mix of sports events, cultural activities and coastal leisure experiences.

The Dapeng Peninsula welcomed 350,000 visitors over the holiday, with tourism revenue rising 8.92% year on year, according to local data.

A highlight was the 2026 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Offshore Dragon Boat Race, the only sea-based dragon boat competition in Shenzhen. Teams from across the region and the Asia-Pacific competed in a high-intensity race that drew large crowds to the coastline.

Festival activities also blended tradition and technology. A dragon boat carnival featured intangible cultural heritage performances, a seaside grass dragon fire ritual, and demonstrations of humanoid robots, smart unmanned boats and electric hydrofoil boards, creating a fusion of folk culture and innovation.

Tourism hotspots across Dapeng saw varied growth. The Yangmeikeng-Luzui area, known for its cliffside ocean views, saw visitor numbers rise 18.76% compared with the last Dragon Boat Festival holiday. The historic Dapeng Fortress hosted themed markets celebrating its 630 years of cultural heritage. The International Dark Sky Community attracted nature lovers with stargazing and firefly viewing, while coastal resorts including Rose Coast and Xichong Resort staged night parties, parades and markets.

Dapeng also saw rising international appeal, with inbound visitor numbers up 9.05% and visitors from other Guangdong cities increasing 15.18% year on year, as multi-stop travel routes combining dragon boat racing, historic sites and local cuisine became increasingly popular among visitors from other parts of the Greater Bay Area.
