Dapeng has launched a summer nature education program that takes students and families into mangrove wetlands, tidal flats, ancient forests and coastal areas to learn about local ecosystems through hands-on activities.

The programs were held at three nature education centers in Dongchong, Baguang and Nan'ao. The activities combined outdoor exploration, environmental education and family experiences.

At Nan'ao, families joined nighttime walks through the forest, learning to identify insects and other wildlife with the help of instructors. 

Baguang Nature Education Center focused on ancient trees and coastal wetlands. Activities included wetland tours, exploration of ancient looking-glass trees, tidal-flat observation, beach cleanups and handicrafts made from discarded fishing nets. 

At Dongchong, participants explored tidal flats and mangroves on foot and by kayak, observing marine life such as barnacles and sea anemones and learning about mangrove species. The center also hosted the 10th National Beach Cleanup Public-Welfare Event and a five-day summer camp featuring marine science experiments, island ecology and mangrove exploration.

Dapeng is home to rich coastal ecosystems, including what is described as the world's largest community of ancient looking-glass trees. It is also the only area in Shenzhen with coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangroves, making it an important habitat for fireflies and other wildlife.
