Nan’ao festival marks return of fishing season
About 100 fishing boats set out from Nan’ao on Aug. 16 as commercial fishing resumed in the South China Sea following a three-and-a-half-month seasonal suspension.

A community in Dapeng is expanding its neighborhood services from lending tools to sharing skills, launching a volunteer-run workshop to help residents solve everyday problems.
The programs were held at three nature education centers in Dongchong, Baguang and Nan'ao. The activities combined outdoor exploration, environmental education and family experiences.
By 2030, all navigable docks on the peninsula are expected to have shore power facilities, along with 200 new public yacht berths and 150 charging facilities for electric boats. The area is expected to have 400 registered electric boats and 1,000 yachts, generating 80,000 electric-boat trips annually and serving about 960,000 visitors per year.
Dapeng recently hosted a cultural performance showcasing Dongshan Fishing Songs, a local form of intangible cultural heritage, bringing traditional maritime culture to life in a coastal tourism setting.
