Surfing completion brings coastal carnival to Dapeng

The 2025 China Longboard Open & U-Series Surfing Championships (Shenzhen) will be held on Sept. 13–14 at Xichong No. 4 Beach, Dapeng New District,. This competition will bring together top surfers from across China for an exciting showdown under vibrant blue skies and sea, offering audiences a spectacular, high-level surfing event.

New way to explore Dapeng! SZ launches 1st bike-friendly shuttle route

Shenzhen’s first-ever customized cycling shuttle service is now officially on the road. Launched by Shenzhen Bus Group on Sept. 6, the service aims to make long-distance cycling and hiking more convenient by combining public transit with outdoor activity. Services are currently available by group-charter booking only. One of the first batch of four recommended cycling routes including the desinations in Dapeng.

81 years on: A Flying Tiger’s legacy of friendship endures in SZ

David Kerr — the son of Lt. Donald W. Kerr, a U.S. Flying Tiger who was rescued by the Dongjiang Column from Japanese attacks in Dapeng in 1944, visited Shenzhen and watched a reenactment of Lt. Kerr’s rescue on Aug. 29.

SZ-made film brings Dongjiang Column's story to the big screen

A Shenzhen-made film honoring the wartime contributions of local soldiers will premiere nationwide Sept. 3, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931–45) and the World Anti-Fascist War. Many of the film's scenes were shot in Dapeng New District.

Trail runners revel in odyssey of mountains and sea

The Third Shenzhen TransDapeng100 Ultra Trail Race by Mountain and Coast was held in Dapeng New District on March 15 and 16. The event attracted around 1,700 participants across four race categories: UTDP120, CCDP50, MSDP30, and ECDP10. They completed distances of 120 km, 50 km, 30 km, and 10 km, respectively, over the two-day event.

At the former site of Dongjiang Column headquarters in Dapeng on Aug. 29, student performers brought 1944 to life in a tense, moving reenactment of Lt. Donald W. Kerr’s rescue — and in the audience sat the man who keeps that story breathing. David Kerr, the U.S. pilot’s son, watched as a new generation traced the footsteps that saved his father, the same chain of villagers, guerrillas, and a weathered banner that first led his family back to this place more than a decade ago.
